…in front of a green screen, beside a plinth that will apparently be CGI’d onto the virtual Seventh Doctor era TARDIS central column!
What is going on? Well it seems that Sylvester’s recent interview with Shadowlocked – which saw him being quite loose-lipped about a number of things – was pretty accurate. Here we seem him recording a scene last week for a revised version of the 1995 independent production Downtime, a film that saw former friends of the Doctor (Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, Victoria Waterfield, Professor Travers and Sarah Jane Smith, all played by the orginal actors: Nicholas Courtney, Deborah Watling, Jack Watling and Elisabeth Sladen) go up against the Great Intelligence in his absence.
Absent no longer, it seems, as this and presumably other new scenes will allow the story to be restored to its original vision. Rights issues meant that the BBC would not licence the producers of the film, Reeltime, to use the Doctor, yet it remained a very popular release, and music from the straight-to-video adventure was composed by Ian Levine, Nigel Stock, and Erwin Keiles.
According to the earlier interview on Shadowlocked, it is Levine that is behind this revision to the original in what seems to be an admirable attempt to “Doctorfy” the 1990s.
We cannot wait to see the finished product…
